8 week loans Easter rollover dates

8 week loan borrowers (staff; professors; distance learners; postgrad researchers; postgrad distance learners and work based learners) loans will start issuing for the Easter vacation on 6th February. Their due date will be 21st April. Pam

Visualising our e-journals usage

More than 36,000 e-journal titles are listed on our A-to-Z, but student and staff interest is not spread equally between those titles. Plotting a graph of the individual usage of each title shows a sharp ‘spike’ of concentrated use within a very small number of titles, and a very long tail of thousands of titles which are barely used, [...]

BL’s new Web site and catalogue

The British Library have redesigned their Web site, which now contains prominent links to the BL’s presence on various social networking/media sites. They are also developing a new Ex Libris Primo search interface for their catalogue. (Spotted on Lorcan Dempsey’s weblog.)

Changes in SMT

Philippa has decided to go half-time for the next two years prior to retirement. This gives the department the opportunity to appoint a half-time (job-share) senior manager. The post is due to be advertised soon.
