10 guiding principles for achieving Library2.0 nirvana
- Better late than never.
- Don’t reject a minor improvement because you’re waiting for a hypothetical perfect solution to arrive.
- If you love your data, set them free.
- If it needs a help guide, you’ve probably got it wrong.
- If you assume your users are stupid, they won’t disappoint.
- RSS is non-negotiable.
- The ‘net interprets control as damage, and routes around it.
- Do it, then ask people what they think. Not the other way round.
- Show me pictures, or it didn’t happen.
- The answer to “…is Library2.0 about technology or not?” is “Mu“.
So true! I work for a careers information service, but it all applies to us too. I wish all our staff could take on board points 2, 4, 6 oh and 8. Well all of the points really!
